Buenos Aires, January 4 (NA) – The head of the La Libertad Avanza senators' bloc, Patricia Bullrich, today expressed her demand that with the new political situation in Venezuela, the release of Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo, illegally detained in Venezuela in December 2024, can be achieved. "We want the immediate freedom of Nahuel Gallo, as well as all those who are illegally detained in Venezuela, just like (the lawyer) German Giuliani," said Bullrich after attending an event of Venezuelan citizens at the obelisk. The former Minister of National Security, as learned by the Argentine News Agency, highlighted that Gallo "is a member of an Argentine security force who went to visit his son and we were never given official information" about his whereabouts. "We are going to do everything in our power for him to return to Argentina," said the senator about Gallo, detained on the border between Colombia and Venezuela when he was trying to enter the latter country to visit his Venezuelan partner and his young son. Bullrich also mentioned Germán Giuliani, an Argentine lawyer who was detained in Venezuela accused by the Maduro government of drug trafficking, and about whose family denounced that he was kidnapped by the authorities and that they had had no news since May 2025. Likewise, she highlighted that from now on Venezuela begins "a very complex transition process because the State is totally infiltrated," and as an example she said that "so far the Armed Forces have remained quiet, they have not come out to deplore Maduro and say we no longer want to be part of this." Bullrich also showed skepticism about the conduct of the vice president in charge of the Government of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and emphasized: "I cannot believe in any of the Venezuelan narco-dictators." "For us everything that has happened in Venezuela, even the extraction of Maduro, was a very important process that shows the capture of a narco-criminal from one of the most brutal cartels that have existed," she pointed out. "This narco-dictatorship had to end and I hope that the United Nations understand it that way, because they were born after the Second World War for that, to give peace and prosperity to the world, and not to cover up dictatorships," she added.
